Work History:
At 17, my first job was working in a Petrol Station.
The summer before I went to University (2006) I worked as a labourer on a farm and went back there in the summers of 2007 and 2009.
In 2008 I spent my summer working at a Children Summer Camp in USA. I was a camp counselor in groups that focused on canoeing and rock climbing activities.
My PhD and post-doctoral positions were full time roles but for extra money when I was writing my thesis I worked as a supermarket delivery driver.
In the summer of 2015 I worked as a labourer building grandstands for a sports championship.
In 2017, before i got my current job at Jacobs, I worked as a bar tender at a pub / restaurant / hotel in Glasgow. -

I live and work in Glasgow which has been my home since I moved here when I was 18 and came to University in the city.
During my free time I love being outside walking, riding a bike or playing sports. I also like to watch live sports and regularly watch Glasgow Warriors rugby team as well as both Scotland national rugby and football teams.
When it comes to TV, any program about the natural world or Space, narrated by Sir David Attenborough or Prof. Brain Cox, is a winner for me!
My mum’s family are Italian so my favourite food is pasta in any shape or form (my gran’s homemade lasagna is hard to beat)! I enjoy cooking myself but I am not the best baker even though I have a sweet tooth for cakes and pastries.
I am a terrible singer but I like a sing-song in the shower and in my car.
-
My Typical Day:
I get up and ride my bike from my flat into Glasgow City Centre where my company’s office is. I spent 85-90% of my work time in the office using my computer to research information and type up reports. At certain times I get outside to do surveys and collect water samples for the projects I am working on.
-
What I'd do with the prize money:
I would like to take everyone to the Glasgow Science Centre
