I love nature. I love being out and about in the countryside; walking my dog; swimming in the sea; growing plants in my garden AND I even get to study it for my job. I live with my boyfriend and my dog Cooper in York but originally I am from Devon in the South West of the UK. We’ve done lots of travelling to amazing places like the Bahamas, Japan and the USA. Wherever we can, we go scuba diving to see the local marine life. My favourite foods are Indian or a good Sunday Roast with proper Yorkshire puddings. My pronouns are she/her and my views are my own.

I work on algae. Algae are tiny creatures that live in our rivers, lakes and oceans. They are really important because they turn light and water into energy and the air we breathe, by a process called photosynthesis. The algae are then eaten by other creatures and the energy they make begins to travel up the food chain. We all rely on algae for energy and for the air we breathe. Without algae we would not be able to live on Earth.

My Typical Day:
I get up, walk my dog and then have toast, tea and a banana for breakfast. I ride my bike to the University of York where I work in a lab with other scientists. I spend all day growing and experimenting on the algae I study.
