I live in Exeter with my family, we have a cat and three chickens. I love seeing new places, cycling, walking, climbing, kayaking, swimming, going out on boats, playing games and eating delicious vegetarian food from around the world. I have a trapeze in my back garden which is fun. I also like building things, this week I have been working on some lego gadgets indoors and a dry stone wall in the garden.

Did you know fish are really good at hearing!? Motorboats make a lot of noise underwater and I am trying to find ways to make sure fish are not disturbed by motorboat noise on coral reefs. When there is noise around sometimes fish try to eat things that aren’t food, or they don’t notice when something is coming to eat them. When motorboats are around they are worse at learning so they don’t even know which other fish are going to try and eat them!

My Typical Day:
At the moment I am working from home so I am spending a lot of time on my laptop at a desk, but I get to work with lots of fun and exciting people so I don’t mind too much.

In the field I might be swimming around coral reefs looking for fish with young at their nests (yes fish have nests!). I sometimes get to swim with turtles and sharks which is amazing. I make measurements of underwater sound so I can listen and make pictures from the sounds when I get back to dry land.

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Curious, conscientious, fun
What did you want to be after you left school?
I didn’t know! I just wanted to be happy and free, I wanted to explore the world and I wanted to try and make the world a better place.
Were you ever in trouble at school?
Of course! Not for anything serious though. In primary school I got told off for asking too many questions… but I think you can never ask too many questions!!
Who is your favourite singer or band?
That’s a hard question! I like so much different music it depends on my mood… I like Sia, Eva Cassidy, music that makes you want to dance like my DJ friend Waggles makes…
What's your favourite food?
Christmas dinner
If you had 3 wishes for yourself what would they be? - be honest!
For humans to appreciate the natural world and our tiny place in it, for my work to be worthwhile even though my place in the world is tiny, and for a happy life with my family and friends
Tell us a joke.
What do you call a fish with a tie? soFISHticated
